You may not have heard that the incentive for Grab rentals and fleet partner has changed. Or you may have heard of it, but you are unsure what the details are. However, worry not as I am here to breakdown and share with you the changes!

If you are driving for Grab, then you are either driving your own car or renting one. If you are the later of the two, then you would have been aware that there are programs in place to reward you if you rented from either GrabRental or Grab Fleet Partners. So, for this post today we will be exploring the benefit you can get from Grab by renting from a Grab Fleet Partner.

Starting on 30 September 2019, GrabRentals Loyalty Rental Rebate program has officially ended, along with the incentives that comes along with it. The Rental Rebate program previously gave an additional 6-8% extra on top of the fare received depending on your Emerald Circle level. This program only rewards the drivers who are driving more and have higher ratings.

However, when one door closes another open, the GrabRental Shield brings with it not 1, not 2, but 3 different benefits for both GrabRental and Fleet Partners! The most significant difference from the previous program is the requirement to access the benefits has been lowered and almost everyone can have access to the benefits.

The benefit enjoyed by GrabRental and Fleet Partner’s Hirers are different and as mention previously, we will be exploring the Fleet Partner’s benefits

First of the three benefit that you will be enjoying would be discounts at Caltex when you pump your fuel! However, the benefits ranges from 24% to 30% depending on your Emerald Circle tier level.

If you are Emerald or Ruby tiers, you will get a 24% discount and if you re-fuel over 500L in a month you will be eligible to receive an additional 20$ cash back! So, if you belong to this group, keep track of your re-fueling to get that additional cash back.

If you are in Sapphire and Diamond tiers, you will get a whole 30% discount! A whooping 6% additional discount worth of savings.

RentalShield Auto Excess Cover is the second of the three benefits, this gives you auto excess cover of up to 1,500$ per claim. However, there are a few criteria that must be met first.

1. You must not be suspended or banned from Grab.
2. The claim must be made within 30 days.
3. You will have to pay your insurance company first before making the claim.
4. The claims only cover after a deductible of 500$ (If your excess is 1000$ you can only claim 500$ from this Cover)
5. Maximum of 2 claim per year (1 October 2019 – 30September 2020)

In other words, you will automatically have this benefit if you are not in trouble with Grab. To ensure that you can get the claim, you must pay your excess first and claim from Chubb as soon as possible after the occurrence of the incident.

This will take a load of you as a driver in the unfortunate case of an accident.

Have you ever wanted to take a medical leave as a Grab driver, but you worry about the rental and the potential profit lost and decide against it? Well now with this last benefit, you can recover some of your rental. How it will cover for you will depend on your emerald circle tier as shown below:

This means that if due to some unfortunate event or sickness that cause you to be unable to drive for a period. Your rental of the car is covered up to 60$ starting from 4^th - 6^th day of your medical leave and from the 2^nd day of your hospital leave.

With this you can have a ease of mind that even if you are sick, you will not be paying for your rental to sit in the carpark and collect dust.

All these new benefits care more for the welfare of the driver and protects the driver to a certain extend if anything unexpected happens. Compared to the previous program that benefits the hard-working drivers, this program benefits all drivers and the more hard-working drivers getting slightly better benefits.

So, in conclusion, instead of instant monetary gain for working hard as a Rental Grab driver, you will get coverage benefits and discounts that increases as you become more hard working. This might discourage some of the more hard-working drivers but at the same time it encourages more casual drivers to drive for grab as they are cover for more instants.
